Comic 86: Doing It Right by ZSparkonequus Comic 86: Doing It Right by ZSparkonequus
There's actually a "backstory" to this comic; long, long ago, I wanted to make a comic called "The Right Thing" in which I would make a lot of the situations of several episodes of MLP:FiM and then instead of them going nuts they would do the right thing and at the end a text would say "If they did the right thing, it wouldn't be as fun". But then the idea was scrapped for being too time consuming among other things and other projects I wanted to do and recently I retake the idea and this is the result; more or less the same but with another episode not considered before.

This concludes it. It will be the final image I post in this "Art Season" which is a personal event I do in which I draw during my vacations and post all of that during the semester of class. And I seem to have calculated it perfectly 'cause I happen to be just finishing the last class of this semester today.

Now to rest and eventually draw again...

Made with Photoshop CS4.

In all honesty
If common sense would be prevalent in most shows,it would make watching them SO much more boring XD

I guess. I liked the begining, with Starlight overusing her magic with everypony, the rest kind of fell apart to me.
Anyway, good job, keep it up ^^

Well, "If they did it, there wouldn't be a plot." is kind of a weak excuse. I say go all out. :)

At least at this age. Last time, it was widely practise, and people would know how to help each other in different situation. But we do live in a simpler life back then.

*smirks cheerefully* Ah yes. The time of the Korean War, segregation was still around, The Civil rights movement was just beginning with a few riots, and a woman's purpose (according to advertisements) was to stay at home to cook, clean, and be of service to their husband and NOTHING else! Oh, and there was also that little Cold War, with the McCarthy trials that even being accused meant you might never get another job anywhere. Common sense definitely abounded in this world!
In all seriousness, I think the idea of "the good old days" and "the past was better than the present" is a bit rediculous. The past had just as many problems as the present, if not more.
Did you know that in World War I, it was punishable by imprisonment to print anything negative about America's involvement in the war?

Yeah, that was a tough time indeed, but actually, I live somewhere in South East Asia. I remember the war took its toll, but at least we care for each other. We share everything in my village, the food, even rides, and to tell you the truth, we have to do that in order to strive into our glorious state. Too bad right now, the new generation just doesn't know the suffering. Even when there is a car accident, they just deliberately slow down to take the car number and buy lotteries, causing the congested traffic even more congested. Very less people even help the people who is in need of help any more. But I can't blame them because there are so many people taking advantage of others, even to the point of robbing the car.

In my time, everything is much simpler, neighbours are very friendly, we help each other up, and no one would stop to think twice when it comes to helping people, even just giving a few cents for anyone to buy a meal (a bowl of noodle cost 20 cents back then) and we have a credit system that we can owe the stalls money eating noodles and pay back later. Sometimes we even use barter system to made our deals.

Depends on your area and region, "the good old days" can vary a lot based on your living condition, your experience, and the people who influence you. Now, with technologies and informations rapidly spreading, many of us paid our common sense for information. Imagine if a fire broke up, most young people still not knowing what to do, some even don't have a clue they are in danger. Back in my days, we ran away from the burning building, shout for help, and passer by will come and attempt to help put out the fire. Fire Brigade will then assist us to put out the fire if the fire is threatening.

I agree with you in saying that "the good old days" depends more on WHERE you lived instead of WHEN you lived. Even people's reactions to seeing an accident carries greatly from town to town here. I've even encountered some random strangers trying to tow off my truck after I hit it into a tree. They drove off pretty quickly when me and my father showed up with our tractor.
However, I have to dissagree on saying people trade common sense for information, mostly because that implies it was there to be traded in the first place. As a whole, humans are simultaneously selfish, smart, generous, and dumb. Wit those contradictions, there's always some kind of impasse.
As for the fires, it's actually still similar here in America. We run from the burning building, call for help, and try to make sure the fire doesn't cause too much damage while we wait for the professional firefighters to get here.
